Here Are Seven Things God Commands Every Christian To Do

1. REJOICE ALWAYS. No matter what season we find ourselves in, we must rejoice in the Lord always. We must rejoice in spite of the fact that there’s no money in the bank, or the doctor has bad news, or there’s a drought in the nation. We must rejoice because the source of our joy doesn’t come from our earthly circumstances, it comes from our heavenly standing. We rejoice always because we belong to Christ.

2. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING. To pray without ceasing means that there shouldn’t be a long gap in our prayer life. In other words, we shouldn’t just pray once in a while, we should pray all the time. We should pray until we lay hold of our requests. Prayer is the breath of the Christian’s life. Just as we can’t live without breathing, the Christian life can’t be lived without praying. And just as we don’t wait a long while in between breathing we shouldn’t wait a long time in between praying.

3. GIVE THANKS ALWAYS. There’s no room for complaining and murmuring for the Christian. Thankfulness glorifies God. It should that we appreciate what He’s doing in our lives. It’s an acknowledgment that He’s the Giver of all things. We thank Him in both good and tough times. Thanking Him in tough times is a statement of faith that He will see us through.

4. DO NOT QUENCH THE SPIRIT. Let the Holy Spirit continue to lead you, teach you and convict you when you sin. Keep the fire burning through prayer, attending church services, reading the word of God, serving in the house of God, etc.

5. DO NOT DESPISE PROPHECIES. In other words don’t reject the preaching, interpreting and applying of Scripture. God has given you teachers to help you understand the Bible. Never reject good bible teaching.

6. TEST ALL THINGS AND HOLD FAST TO WHAT IS GOOD. Just because someone claims to be pastor that doesn’t mean we’re to automatically accept their teaching. Recently we had a self-proclaimed prophet who claimed to have met with and dined with God yet that wasn’t true. Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:15 to “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” Do not accept any teaching from anyone unless it lines up with Scripture.
