I have been in the ministry for ten years now and I have seen pastors who had great potential but whose ministry came to a premature end because of these seven weapons that satan uses against ministers of the gospel.
1. Pride. The first weapon I want to talk about is pride. Many pastors fell due to pride. The more God used them, the more they became proud. They felt they are too big that they can’t listen to anyone. They take correction from other men of God as jealousy.

2. Greed. Greed is another weapon used by satan against servants of God. The work of the ministry is a work that places the pastors in control of large sums of money. Satan takes advantage of that and attacks the pastors with greed. They end up serving God for the money. They begin using various tricks in order to earn more and more like selling certain ‘anointed things’ in order to raise more money, etc.
3. Lust and immorality. Being in the ministry exposes you to different types of women/men. These people idolize the pastor to the extent that they ‘love’ their pastor and are ready to do anything that the pastor asks them. If the pastor isn’t careful he/she will end up having relationships with congregants. Satan also sends his ‘girls’ to lure the pastor into sin. Remember, David the man of God, fell when he saw the naked Bathsheba bathing.
4. Taking God and the work of the ministry for granted. Some pastors take God for granted. They serve God in a very casual way. They take advantage of God’s patience and they go ahead and do things their own way without consulting God. They do as they please forgetting they are servants in the church.

6. Carelessness toward church members. Pastors are shepherds. Shepherds ought to take care of the sheep. There are pastors who doesn’t take care of their congregations. All they care about is their own welfare. They are quick to rebuke their members if they are not taking care of their needs. They rarely visit the sick or comfort those who mourn. They are after the benefits of ministry not service.
7. Spiritual laziness. It’s funny to see that some pastors are spiritually lazy. They don’t read the Bible unless they want to preach. They pray for at most 5 minutes per day. They don’t fast or have prayer vigils. These are attacks over the servants of God aimed at drained their spiritual energy.
Pastors need to be careful because the devil is doing all he can to cause them to fail.
