Across the nation, nobody is being talked about like President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, (ED). People have various opinions about his leadership.
Some see him as a cool, peace-loving, statesman, others
perceive him as a devil. Some are blaming him for the economic challenges we
are facing yet others are saying he needs time, damage was already done before
he assumed power from his predecessor and former boss, Robert Mugabe.
However, what matters most is what God is saying about ED
and his leadership.

The Bible says that God has a purpose for everything, even
the installation of leaders, whether they be good or bad. Thus, for God to
allow the installation of ED as the Zimbabwean president, He must have a good
reason for doing so.
I know this might be hard for some to believe, but the truth
remains the same: "The Lord has made
everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble."
(Proverbs 16:4). Mark where it says '...Even
the Wicked...'
Daniel 2:21 tells us that God "changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up
kings." He puts them there because He has an intended purpose. This
doesn’t mean that God approves every action taken by the installed leader, but
that he allows the installation of someone whose heart suits His purposes for
the particular season. God is omniscient, He knew ED’s heart way before he was inaugurated
president.
Consider what God told the Pharaoh in Moses' time: "But indeed for this purpose I have
raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be
declared in all the earth." (see Exodus 9:16; also Romans 9:17). Today,
we celebrate the mightiness of God because of the power He demonstrated as He rescued
His people from Pharaoh, yet in that Scripture, God had deliberately chosen
Pharaoh to reign ruthlessly over His chosen people for a season.
In the same way, our seemingly bad leaders today are in
position simply because God wants to do something to us. He wants to bring us
back to Him and to bring us to Christ-likeness.
God wants to refine us as a nation, and He is using ED and
His leadership to meet that end in three ways:
1. God is revealing to us where we stand. It is easy for
every person to call himself a Christian when everything is ok in the nation.
These hard times reveal where we belong.
2. God is teaching us to pursue righteousness and to stand
up for it. Honestly speaking, we are being taught to choose the kind of leaders
that God wants – those who are just, honest, righteous, and with integrity. Failure
to do so has negative consequences. In the next election, I believe we will
surely pray for God-fearing leaders.
3. God is showing us that this world is not our home. He is igniting
a desire for Christ's reign. Before the elections, ED made a lot of promises and
I believe he did so in good faith, but as any other human being, he is limited.
Christ is our Supreme Leader, and His reign is the one we eagerly desire
because He never fails.
All human leaders have shortcomings. Only God has nothing
but our good in store for us. As such, we must follow and obey Him.
