Zimbabwe – What’s Wrong? (Part 3) - Let's Turn Back To God

I'm so much in love of our nation, Zimbabwe, but I'm saddened by the suffering we are going through and the rapid decline of our economy.

When you look at the news concerning our nation, would you describe it as chaotic or peaceful?

Zimbabwe – What’s Wrong? (Part 3)

There are reports of problem after problem. Winding fuel queues; strikes;  increasing unemployment rate; mysterious accidents; cases of rape; incest; robberies; price hikes; shortages; corruption; natural disasters; economic downfall; riots; etc. has become the norm in our society. The question is, why?

Our case is no difference with what Israel once faced. Scripture says, "For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law…. In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for many disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands... for God troubled them with every kind of distress.” (2 Chronicles 15:3, 5–6).

Like us, Israel faced extreme economic, social, and political turmoil for three reasons: failure to honor God; failure to uphold the truth and extreme disregarding the authority of God's Word.

When a culture has a false view of God built on bad information, God begins to remove the restraint of His law, and evil grows unbridled. What you and I are witnessing today in the rapid worsening of our nation is the reality that God is removing more and more of His restraint.

When all is fine, even non Christians will respect God and won’t do certain things. But once God is removed from or marginalized in a culture, then the standard for a society is gone and God becomes one’s worst enemy and worst nightmare. That’s what's happening today.

When the rule of God’s law is missing, chaos replaces community. You cannot have order and structure in society without God. Men become enslaved by the very freedom they seek.

We have ungodly people in our nation who don’t want any divine standard to which they must be held accountable. But when God leaves a society, hope goes with Him.

As long as you have God, you have hope. He’s the one thing you can count on. If God is still in the picture, and as long as His agenda is still on the table, it’s not over until it’s over.

Even if circumstances collapse, God will keep you. As long as God is front and center in a culture, life, family, or church, there’s hope. But when He is removed, just like when people and their cars leave the city center and go to the residential suburbs, God goes to the spiritual residential suburbs, and the city center’s cultures crumble.

We must view God with the right lens. Let’s rid ourselves of the false view of God which has brought much harm to our nation. We have gone astray from God’s Word and, as a nation, we must repent. Lawlessness has ruined us. Let’s give God His place in our lives. He must become the center of our lives.

Scripture: … rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer … (Romans 12:12)
