Here are 15 Reasons Why You Must Carry an Offering to Church
*1. Giving is an act of
worship.* (Proverbs 3:5-10).
Our offerings are
sacrifices which we make to our God. Giving is a spiritual issue. Offerings
aren’t fund-raisings for the church expenses but an expression of worship. The
wisemen from the east worshipped the baby Jesus manifested in the form of
“gifts” (Matthew 2:11)
*2. Your offering proves
that you love God*
"For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6:21). It’s not a
matter of how much you give but your heart. A certain poor widow gave a single
coin and Jesus said she gave more compared to the wealthy men who gave lots of
money (Luke 21:3-4).
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BRING AN OFFERING TO CHURCH? |
*3. Your offering is an
acknowledgement that God owns everything*
(James 1:17). Everything
we own and everything we have comes from God. So, when we give, we simply offer
Him a small portion of all the abundance He has already given to us.
*4. Giving offerings is an
acknowledging that God is the source of your income* Your offerings shows you are
dependent upon God
*5. Giving offerings is an
expression of your thankfulness to God*
*6. Offerings connects us
with divine blessings*
Our Lord Jesus said: 'It
is more blessed to give than to receive' (Acts 20:35). Giving is brings more
blessing to the giver than to the recipient.
*7. Our Lord Jesus expects
and requires us to bring offerings to church*
Giving is not optional,
but rather essential. God says, “You rob Me when you withhold the tithe and
fail to give offerings” (Malachi 3:8)
*8. Bringing offerings
shows that you trust both your pastor and his leadership*
*9. You support the vision
through your offering*
Bringing offerings to
church shows you caught the vision.
*10. You support pastors
and leaders through your offering*
The church will not
survive without support.
*11. Giving offerings is a
sign that you love God, His work and His servants*
When we give something to
someone, we are showing love, respect and concern for that person. Your
offering represents a bond of affection between you and God.
*12. Bringing offerings
shows that God is on your mind*
Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “You
shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get
wealth …”
*13. Your offerings shows
that God is important to you*
*14. Your offering shows
you trust God for your future*
The widow at the temple gave
everything she had as an offering and that got the attention of Jesus (Mark
12:41-44). Nobody is too poor to give an offering.
*15. Your offering
represents you*
After service you might
leave the church but your offering remains at the altar ‘speaking’ for you
As I conclude I advise you
to prepare your offerings ahead of time and pray over them. Offering time must
be something you look forward to, not something that catches you by surprise.
If you don’t plan about what you will give, you will probably not give anything
at all.
*Take a fat offering to
church this Sunday*
Scripture Luke 6:38 says, _“Give,
and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together,
running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will
be measured back to you.”_
